Derek Thompson is advertising for new members to join his Racing Club so he can sell them tips.

On his website, www.tommoracing.com he has produced some very dubious looking "testimonials", supposedly from satisfied customers.

One of the customers is thanking Derek Thompson for tipping Authorized as a "flying two year old" which was in 2006 !!!

I know that he has recently removed his 2005 winner Kinnaird after gloating about it for over 3 years, but there is now a gloat from 2006 being used to entice potential new members

Does Derek Thompson not owe it to the general public to bring his website up to date, to stop gloating about winners that happened years ago, and to clearly state in his big welcome box exactly what profit or loss his members have made in the past 12 months

Gerry sez: Perhaps there is a reason for not so doing. Think about it!

Gerry,

Thompson knows that if he captures a £150 membership, its as good as receiving 25 calls on his 090 number (and nobody in their right mind would ring more than 25 times). He will also make a bit somewhere on the phone calls because we already know there is a 10p a minute service in there somewhere. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of "text tips" service in the members cunningly disguised as a "late urgent update message" or similar. He can get £2 for a text tip. In fact there's probably all kinds of scams going on with phone numbers deep within the members area.

Can anybody confirm whether the Derek Thompson Racing Club has now closed down ?

Derek Thompson has / had a Racing Club with its own website: www.tommoracing.com

The only purpose of this Racing Club is to sell you tips.

To join the club, you had to apply online. If you wanted more information, you could press a "contact" button, type in your question, and you were promised a reply within 48 hours.

On the website, Derek Thompson describes himself as a "Record Breaker" in a prominent, eye catching yellow box

I was impressed and decided to ask for more details before I joined.

I pressed the "contact" button, and asked about the "Record". A message popped up promising a reply within 48 hours

48 hours went by - no reply, so I asked again

Another 48 hours went by - no reply, so I asked again

Then another 48 hours went by - and still no reply

Any organisation advertising for new members surely doesn't ignore requests for basic information. I just wanted them to explain what "record" Derek Thompson had broken. After all, its in a big yellow box so he must have done it.

Unless somebody can tell me otherwise, I assume the Derek Thompson Racing Club has now closed down. Perhaps the existing members should be writing in for a refund. And perhaps there should be a message in the Elite Racing Club Newsletter to this effect.
